Lucia Conte Aguilar

Lucía Conte Aguilar, PhD is a researcher and heritage practitioner specialising in Jewish history and heritage in Spain and Southern Europe. She leads initiatives focused on the recovery, preservation, and interpretation of Jewish heritage, working with public institutions, cultural organisations, and local communities. A member of the MORESHET Jewish Heritage Network, the Future for Religious Heritage Network and scientific assessor for the Government of Aragon's strategic plan Aragón Sefarad: Legacy and Memory, her work bridges historical research and practical heritage recovery, helping translate scholarship into sustainable heritage initiatives, public engagement programmes, and institutional partnerships.

Lucía holds a Ph.D. in Medieval History, a Master's degree in History, and a degree in Humanities from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. Her research focuses on the history of the Jews of the Crown of Aragon, early Hebrew printing in medieval Spain, and Jewish heritage recovery. She has published and presented internationally on these subjects and leads the Foundation for Jewish Heritage’s heritage recovery project for the medieval synagogue and Jewish Quarter of Híjar, one of the earliest centres of Hebrew printing in the Iberian Peninsula.
