Distinguished new Trustee appointed!

The Foundation for Jewish Heritage is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof David Latchman CBE as its latest Trustee.

Prof Latchman is Vice-Chancellor of Birkbeck University of London, Chair of the Maurice Wohl Charitable Foundation and Board member of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Centre (JDC). He is also an avid collector of British Jewish memorabilia and has published books presenting aspects of his collection.

He stated, ‘I am honoured to have been appointed a Trustee of the Foundation for Jewish Heritage. My long-standing admiration for the work of the Foundation across Europe has been reinforced by my visit to the Merthyr Synagogue where I saw the remarkable restoration which is going on under the auspices of the Foundation. I look forward to working with the other Trustees and the Chief Executive in order to build on their achievements.’

Dame Helen Hyde, Chair of the Foundation for Jewish Heritage, remarked, ‘We are delighted to have Prof Latchman join as a Trustee. Given his impressive background and interests, I am sure that he will make an important contribution to our work. We are looking forward to having him on board.’
