Our Merthyr Tydfil synagogue project received two special Welsh Government visitors.

Cabinet Secretary and Chief Whip Jane Hutt MS had asked to tour the synagogue and she was joined by the Minister for Children and Social Care Dawn Bowden MS.

Zoe Thomas and Craig Mason from Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council also took part in the visit.

The group was taken around the historic listed building by Foundation for Jewish Heritage Chief Executive Michael Mail and Project Manager Neil Richardson.  Its special features were pointed out and a general briefing was provided on the status of the project as it approaches the end of the current Development Phase planning the creation of a Welsh Jewish Cultural Centre at the site.

The visitors enjoyed the experience and appreciated hearing the latest on the initiative.

The Merthyr Tydfil synagogue project is being funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Welsh Government and Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council.
