The Foundation was invited to participate in a recent International Congress in Potes and Santander in Cantabria Spain. Its focus was on religious heritage through the prism of iconic medieval religious manuscripts and their enduring legacy.
The event was opened by Georg Haeusler, Director for Culture, Creativity and Sport at the European Commission, and this was followed by several presentations by leading academics in the field.

The Foundation Chief Executive took part in a panel debate on religious heritage in shaping Europe’s cultural identity and the impact on European society today. This was moderated by Pilar Bahamonde, Director of the Fundación Camino Lebaniego, who had played a leading role in creating the event.
The event was followed by the AGM of the Brussels-based ‘Future for Religious Heritage’ which works across Europe preserving and advocating on behalf of religious heritage. The Foundation’s Chief Executive serves on the FRH Board.
