The Steering Committee of the Slonim Great Synagogue restoration campaign, which is a sub-committee of the Foundation for Jewish Heritage, has launched a website to promote awareness of and support for its work.

Working closely with the Slonim City authorities, the current focus of the Committee’s activities is on dealing with urgent repairs and making the building wind and watertight. Following this, the Committee plans to commission a feasibility study on the future use of the building.

The Steering Committee is chaired by Simon Kaplinsky and it has a Technical Sub-committee of experts offering ongoing support and guidance. Its Patrons are the UK Ambassador to Belarus Fionna Gibb OBE, the Rt Hon Dame Margaret Hodge MP, Natasha Kaplinsky OBE and Zvi Shefet, the Chair of the Slonim Jewish Association in Israel.
