The Heritage Trust Network (HTN) supports all those working on preserving heritage sites from across the UK. Its biggest gathering is the annual conference, which was held this year in Dunfermline in Scotland, and the Foundation attended.
The conference programme was a mix of presentations, workshops and site visits covering a range of issues and a range of projects. The informal networking also proved important with new contacts made and experiences shared.
The results of HTN’s 2023 impact survey was launched at the event and it shows the breadth and depth of activities carried out by Network members and the impact they have on historic buildings and landscapes, their communities and local economies. There are hundreds of preservation projects being run by HTN members and the survey highlighted four specific ones, which included the Foundation’s own Merthyr synagogue project. The link to the Impact Report is below.
It was also announced at the conference that HTN had been awarded a significant grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for a major development and resilience project to transform the Network’s ability to empower people to rescue and reuse historic buildings and spaces for the benefit of their communities.
